And Reality

I am sorry. The past two weeks have been almost unbearable. I have been in a 'slough of despond' and was entirely unable to see my way out of it. I just sat about the house doing nothing. I think it may have been the dream about Ann which shook me out of it. It was my first dream since her death (or, perhaps, the first dream that I was able to remember when I awoke).

I looked at my finances yesterday and realised that something had to be done rather urgently. I am therefore going to Court to try a case tomorrow. A little case: not a jury trial. I'm not sure what it's about yet, the papers will arrive here later this evening. It will be interesting to see whether I can get myself to Court by 9.30 am (sixty miles away) after first walking the dogs and ironing a shirt. I suppose this is the sort of thing single, working mothers do every day. I wonder if I shall have to apologise for having dog food on my lapel? I shall doubtless return home complaining about glass ceilings and the dearth of appropriate, local creches.

Tomorrow will be very strange indeed.

course you can do it.
Necessity is a great thing!
Keep your eye on the prize x

You could always feed the dogs BEFORE you put on your shirt - might cut down the chances of getting their food on your shirt? :-p

I'm sure you'll be fine tomorrow - good luck! :-) x

Hello Philip,

I came upon your extraordinarily touching blog entirely by chance, and have now become a regular reader.
I can only offer you my profound sympathies for your great loss. You must have been to some dark and raw places over the past few months.
I wish you all the very best for your return to court/practise tommorrow, and reiterate kitty's sentiments - you'll prevail!
For what its worth, I bung my poor old dog's (who's name is Actress) food into a timed dish thing the night before, which gets shoved in the fridge; I put it out in the morning and it opens at feeding time - no mess, no fuss!

The papers have just arrived. Looks like a bit of a bugger, actually.

Do you want to do it Law Minx?

You will ride the bicycle my friend.
Anyway the brief fee might buy you a warp or two... maybe a solar panel!

Perhaps if you wear your naked dog feeding outfit in court rather than traditional lawyer kit no-one will be concerned about the buggerishness of the case or dog food spillages?

It's just a thought......

Be warned - may make bicycle riding somewhat uncomfortable.

Trashalou may have something!

I'll sleep on the idea if I may?

I think I'll iron a shirt just in case.

Yes, Scimitar 70, the brief fee might buy a solar panel for the ocean-gong yacht I aspire to own. But I think I might try to put a small dent in the credit card debt first!

I have been hoping you'd get back to work!

Surely Ann would not have wanted you to sink into despondency indefinitely. I liked that in your dream she was well and seemed tranquil and happy. I am not a believer of life after death nor of souls coming back to visit us. But I do think our minds (and hearts) can heal in time and that your loving dream of Anne is a step in that direction.

Kitty is right, dog feeding first , shirt second.
Or you could wear a towel around your front, bib fashion. Best to take if off before you start on your case though.
Go get them, tiger!

suggest NOT ironing shirt by sleeping on it. Suggest not letting hounds sleep on it either.......

If there is naked dog feeding will you be posting the photos? hehe!

Good luck with returning to work.
One step at a time sweetie.

Ann will be with you every step of the way. In your heart and soul, helping you through the day.
And that strengh will be your guide.
Hugs.

Attempted to take picture of naked dog feeding for Mollycupcakes. Sadly, contortions involved in attempting to show myself in flattering light caused damage to Achilles tendon. Resultant cries of pain attracted attention of actress / supermodel next-door neighbour (well, she's been in a couple of advertisements). Consequent attendance of police threatens continuation of stalled career. Bloody dogs!

I rather wish Trashalou had offered her advice sooner. I looked disheveled and somewhat hairy in Court today. Domestic tips such as those should not be trade secrets! Tricky, that's what I say. It's Obama for me - all the way.

If I could just offer some practical advice on the photo of naked dog feeding? Feed the dogs in front of a mirror ... easy peasy lemon squeezy - snap yourself in the mirror.

Look forward to the pictures :-p x
